We’re growing fast and expanding our presence on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. We’re now looking for an experienced Senior Accountant or Assistant Manager to join our Business Services team. About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll manage a portfolio of diverse clients, lead a team of accountants, and play an active role in workflow planning, technical development, and quality control. You’ll be responsible for reviewing complex compliance work, delivering tailored advice, and ensuring all deliverables meet high professional standards.

As an Assistant Manager at HTA, you’ll also be a mentor—supporting the growth of our graduates and intermediates while developing your own leadership skills under the guidance of experienced directors.


Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Delivery

  • Manage a client portfolio and maintain strong client relationships by delivering timely and valued business services

  • Prepare and review financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals

  • Provide practical and strategic tax advice, including planning, structuring, and compliance

  • Identify advisory opportunities within your client base to support business growth and client success

  • Respond to ATO correspondence and client queries with confidence and clarity

Review & Quality Control

  • Review and sign off on compliance work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants

  • Oversee the preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and payroll obligations

  • Ensure all work is accurate, error-free, and professionally presented, in line with HTA systems and procedures

  • Perform and review complex reconciliations, management reports, and financial analysis

Workflow & Team Leadership

  • Plan and manage workflow, job scheduling, and budgets for your client group

  • Assist with capacity planning, ensuring the right work is matched to the right team members

  • Take full ownership of the jobs delegated to you, ensuring deadlines and expectations are met

  • Support and mentor team members by providing regular feedback, training, and development opportunities

Leadership & Professional Growth

  • Embody and promote HTA’s values across your team and client interactions

  • Take an active role in managing performance and supporting your team’s professional goals

  • Stay up to date with legislation, compliance updates, and industry best practices

  • Contribute to business improvement projects, innovation, and internal leadership initiatives

What You’ll Bring

  • CA or CPA qualified

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in public practice accounting

  • Strong technical knowledge of tax legislation, business structures, and compliance requirements

  • Experience in leading a team and reviewing work to a high standard

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Confidence to provide advice based on sound knowledge and judgement

  • Proficiency in Xero (including payroll and reporting), with strong Excel and Office suite skills

  • Commitment to mentoring others and continuous learning—both for yourself and your team

  • High ethical standards, reliability, and a genuine passion for helping businesses succeed
