OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To manage a team of professionals while providing excellent business
advisory and accounting advice to clients which will enable them to build
their businesses.
About The Role:
As Manager, you will take ownership of a diverse client portfolio while leading and developing a team of accountants. You will balance technical excellence with commercial awareness, ensuring work is delivered at a high standard while fostering a supportive and accountable team culture.
You will work closely with Directors and contribute to leadership discussions, capacity planning, workflow strategy, and continuous improvement across the firm.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Client & Technical Leadership
- Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a trusted advisor
- Reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and compliance work (including SMSFs)
- Identifying technical issues, mitigating risk, and providing proactive tax planning strategies
- Ensuring quality assurance and technical excellence across all client work
Team Leadership & Development
- Managing, mentoring, and developing junior team members
- Conducting effective reviews and providing constructive feedback
- Leading team meetings and facilitating technical discussions
- Allocating work based on team strengths and development needs
- Creating an open, accountable, and supportive team environment
Commercial & Operational Management
- Managing workflow, WIP forecasts, and capacity planning
- Setting and meeting budget and productivity targets
- Maximising profitability within your client base
- Identifying opportunities to add value and expand client services
About You
You are technically strong, commercially aware, and confident in leading others.
You bring:
- CA or CPA qualification
- 10+ years’ experience in public practice
- Advanced knowledge of Australian tax legislation and accounting standards
- Strong technical capability across CGT, Division 7A, FBT, GST, Small Business CGT concessions and more
- Proven experience managing and developing a team
- Excellent communication skills and sound professional judgement
Advanced Xero and Excel capability
