Xerocon 2025: What’s Next in Cloud Accounting

By September 25, 2025 October 8th, 2025 No Comments

Earlier this month, four of the HTA team travelled to Brisbane for Xerocon 2025, Xero’s flagship event and one of the biggest dates in the accounting calendar. It’s always a chance to look ahead at what’s coming next in cloud accounting, and this year the focus was clear: AI, simpler money management, and the growing power of connected apps.

JAX – Xero’s New AI Assistant

The big reveal was JAX (Just Ask Xero) — an AI assistant designed to take routine admin off your plate. JAX can:

  • Draft invoices and quotes from emails or messages

  • Automate reminders and follow-ups

  • Suggest reconciliations and explain the reasoning

  • Be accessed through Xero, email, SMS or WhatsApp

For business owners, this means less time on admin and more time to focus on running the business, while we continue to provide the judgement and compliance oversight that only people can deliver.

Smarter Money Management

Managing cash flow can be one of the toughest parts of business. Xero is making this easier with updates that include:

  • Customers paying multiple invoices in one step

  • Scheduled payments to help avoid missed deadlines

  • Progress payments for projects managed directly in Xero

  • AI-powered reconciliation for improved accuracy

The result? More control and clearer insight into your business’s cash position.

The Expanding Xero App Ecosystem

Xero’s ecosystem of apps continues to expand, covering everything from payroll and inventory to payments, reporting, and industry-specific solutions. The right mix of apps can save you hours and reduce errors, but with so many choices, it can feel overwhelming.

Our team can help you identify and implement the tools that are the best fit for your business needs.

The Human Edge & Wellbeing Focus

While technology is advancing fast, one message stood out: people remain essential. AI can handle repetitive tasks, but only people bring judgement, trust and context.

Xerocon also placed emphasis on workplace wellbeing, with practical reminders to look after productivity, focus and balance in daily routines — something we know matters just as much as the numbers on the page.

What This Means for Your Business

The changes announced at Xerocon are all about creating faster workflows, more accurate data, and better insights. For business owners, this translates to more time, more confidence, and more opportunities to grow.
